Additional Port Services & Facilities

Anchoring & Mooring

In addition to marinas, Greek ports can host around 3,000 yachts. Beyond major hubs like Piraeus and Thessaloniki, you'll find charming and well-equipped small ports in destinations such as Aegina, Poros, Hydra, Spetses, Nafplio, Gythio, Pylos, Zakynthos, Ithaca, Kefalonia, Lefkada, Paxos, Ios, Mykonos, Patmos, Symi, Samos, Plomari, Lesvos, Chios, and more.

Port Fees

Commercial ports operate under local authorities. Yacht port dues are regulated by the Ministry of Merchant Shipping and are calculated based on vessel class, length overall, gross tonnage, and duration of stay.

Fuel, Water & Supplies

  • Fuel: Diesel is widely available from tankers or refueling points managed by port authorities (via VHF channel 12). In remote locations, a modest surcharge may apply.

  • Gasoline: Available at nearby gas stations.

  • Lubricants: Typically available but stock up beforehand for remote island travel.

  • Water: Some ports levy an 80% surcharge on standard municipal rates. Water delivery or self-service options may vary.

  • Miscellaneous: Ice, LPG, and other essentials can be sourced through local suppliers or referenced via VHF channel 12.

Repair Services

From major mainland ports to large islands, comprehensive yacht services and repairs are available. Smaller or remote ports offer limited, but valuable, assistance.

Important Legal Notes

  1. Private yachts, whether Greek or foreign flagged, are not entitled to free supplies such as fuel or lubricants.

  2. Commercial tourist vessels may be eligible for duty-free fuel through authorized refund procedures under applicable maritime law.

Legislation is subject to changes as Greece aligns with EU standards. Always verify current regulations during your planning.

Summary

Greece’s sophisticated marina infrastructure, extensive supply network, and rich port services make it an unparalleled yachting destination.

Whether you're dropping anchor in a modern marina or mooring in a quaint seaside village, you’ll find support, safety, and serenity.
